ORDERING IN BULK: FAQ'S
Q: How much freezer space do I need?
A: Figure 1 cubic foot of freezer space per pound of meat. Oddly shaped cuts will take a little more space. 5 cubic feet of freezer space should comfortably fit either 1/4 cow or 1/2 pig.
Q: How long can I store frozen meat?
A: As long as frozen temperatures are maintained, frozen meat is safe to eat for a long time. We always figure about a year for maximum quality, though it is safe to eat longer than that. Our meats are vacuum sealed and frozen immediately upon cutting and packaging for freshness.
Q: Can I choose which cuts I receive?
A: Yes and no. When you place a deposit for a bulk order, you will receive an email with a link to our cut instructions form to be completed. We offer different cut packages of standard cuts to make the ordering process smooth and easy. However, if you know you would like a special cut that you don’t see in the options, put it in the comment box at the end of the form and we will try to accomodate it.
When ordering 1/4 beef it is important to know that you are splitting a side of beef with another customer. Each customer will split the cuts from each section of that half of the animal, so you will receive your share of the best steaks/roasts, but you will also receive ground beef and the more economy type steaks and roasts as well.
Q: Should I bring boxes or coolers when I pick my order up?
A: Your order will be boxed and stored in our walk-in freezer. You may want to bring coolers if you have a long drive home, but the meat stays frozen for quite a while when packaged in our boxes.
Q: Do I have to pick my order up the day it is ready?
A: No, we have short-term freezer storage on site, we just ask that you try to pick it up within 3 business days due to limited space.
