Stock up your freezer with farm fresh grass-fed beef!

How it works:  This payment is the deposit required to place a quarter beef order.  Final cost will be determined once it is processed and final weight is determined.  Price is $12.00/lb of final take-home weight, including processing.  The ordering process is easy:

  1. Place deposit by adding this item to your cart & following the payment instructions to reserve yours.
  2. When the date gets closer, we will email a link to our cut instructions form for you to complete.
  3. We’ll let you know when it’s ready, either by email or text (whichever you choose on your cut form).

Once your deposit is placed, your 1/4 beef order is reserved for you and will be ready for you to pickup at the farm around mid July 2024.  As the date gets closer, you will be emailed a link to a simple cut instruction sheet for you to complete to tell us how you would like your 1/4 cut and a more exact finish date will be given.  Contact us if you have any questions about cuts or completing the cut sheet.

Take home weight per beef quarter is on average around 115 lbs, depending on the size of the animal.  An average total price per quarter is typically around $1,380.  Your final invoice will be sent once your order is packed and weighed, and your deposit will be deducted.  Each quarter will contain cuts from both the front and hind ends of the animal.  Each quarter will contain high-end cuts, lower-end cuts, and ground beef.

**If you would like more than 1/4, simply increase the quantity in your cart.  E.g. for a half cow, order a quantity of 2 deposits.**

***This deposit will be for grass-fed Jersey and Jersey cross beef from Plato Dale Farm in Arcade, NY.  Diet consists of grass pasture, grass haylage and salt.  Free from antibiotics and added growth hormones. 

HOW OUR PRICING IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FARMS: HANGING WEIGHT VS TAKE-HOME WEIGHT

It’s our mission to make it as easy as possible for you to access healthy, locally grown food. We know the process of purchasing pork or beef in bulk can be difficult, confusing, and intimidating, especially when you’ve never done it before.  With our on-farm butcher shop and Farmshop, the entire process is done right here, from cutting to packaging to pick-up.

Bulk pork and beef purchased from a farm is typically priced per pound of hanging weight. The processor weighs the animal after slaughter, but before cutting and any loss from bone, excess fat, or aging. This is hanging weight.  Processing costs are also based on hanging weight and are usually in addition to the amount due to the farmer and are paid by you to the processor. The problem with this process is that the weight the animal hangs at is not the weight you take home, making it difficult to understand how much meat you will actually get and how much you are paying per pound of meat you take home.
One of the many benefits of our new on-farm butcher shop is that we have the ability to price our bulk meats with one simple price per pound of meat you actually take home, including processing. This will make the price look higher per pound compared to other farms pricing by hanging weight, but it will include processing and will be based on the weight of the meat you take home, rather than the heavier weight of the animal before loss. This is a much more transparent pricing strategy making it a lot easier to explain and understand!
